About Me

Bonjour, je suis infirmière autorisée depuis 2009 et infirmière praticienne, titulaire d’un diplôme de l’université d’Ottawa obtenu en 2019. Mon parcours professionnel inclut une expérience significative en urgences et en santé communautaire, avec un engagement particulier auprès d’adultes présentant une déficience intellectuelle. En plus de mon rôle clinique, j’ai partagé mes connaissances en enseignant au baccalauréat en sciences infirmières tant à l’université d’Ottawa qu’au Collège Algonquin.

Actuellement, je suis infirmière praticienne à plein temps en soins primaires à l’est d’Ottawa. Ma pratique est ancrée dans les principes de soins axés sur le patient, la sensibilité aux traumatismes et la promotion de la prise de décision partagée. Bien que je prodigue des soins à toutes les tranches d’âge, ma passion prédomine pour la santé des femmes, des enfants, et la santé mentale.

Pour l’avenir, mon objectif est de contribuer à l’évolution des soins de santé en développant ma curiosité en recherche sur l’impact de la santé émotionnelle et comment celle-ci interagit avec la santé physique. Je suis ouverte aux opportunités de collaboration et d’apprentissage dans ce domaine.

About Me

Annie LaRocque PHC-NP Thera CP lead, first started her nursing career in 2002 as a critical care RN. She graduated from the COUPN PHC-NP certificate in 2005 and completed her M. Sc. N. in 2007, all from University of Ottawa. She has been a preceptor for many NP students over the years. She currently works for Hôpital Montfort in the community working with the Mental Health, elderly, and homeless populations. Her other passion is ski teaching.

Annie LaRocque IP-SSP et chef de cours Thera 1 et 2, a débuté sa carrière d’infirmière en 2002 en tant qu’infirmière autorisée en soins critiques. Elle a obtenu le certificat de IP-SSP du COUPN en 2005 et a complété sa maîtrise en sciences infirmières en 2007 tous de l’université d’Ottawa. Au fil des ans, elle a été préceptrice de nombreux étudiants IP. Elle travaille actuellement à l’Hôpital Montfort, dans la communauté, auprès des personnes atteintes de troubles mentaux, des personnes âgées et des sans-abri. Son autre passion est l’enseignement du ski.

About Me

Bonjour, je suis Sylvain Leduc et je serai votre professeur charge du cours Stage d’intégrations et du cours de FAESD et tuteur à l’université Laurentienne pour le cours de Stage l’intégration. Je travaille présentement comme IP-SSP dans un centre de santé du grand Sudbury. J’ai gradué du diplôme IA en 1990 du Collège Cambrian, par la suite du baccalauréat à l’université Laurentienne en 2005, j’ai poursuivi mes études à Laurentienne pour le certificat IP. J’ai complété ma maîtrise en sciences infirmières en 2016.

Mon expérience clinique est variée. J’ai débuté ma carrière comme infirmier dans un milieu hospitalier a London et à Sudbury dans les soins d’urgence, soins intensifs et dialyse. Une fois gradue du programme IP, j’ai travaillé pendant 7 ans en réhabilitation cardiaques pour enfin m’installer au centre de santé communautaire du grands Sudbury en santé primaire. Je travaille également avec l’agence Réseau Santé et j’offre des soins pour la population LGBTQ2A, surtout en santé transgenre.

Je suis professeur à la Laurentienne depuis 7 ans au baccalauréat, et depuis 5 ans aux cours IPSSP, tuteur en thérapeutique. A titre de professeur charge du cours je m’engage à travailler avec vous, afin de vous offrir une expérience enrichissante. Au plaisir de travailler avec vous et j’’espère pouvoir vous transmettre ma passion et partager mes connaissances au travers de ce cours.

About Me

I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa which I did with the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate.

I have been a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner since 2009. Before the NP program I worked in Toronto at Scarborough Grace hospital for a couple of years in the Family Birth Place, then in Ottawa at l’hôpital Montfort in the Centre Familial des Naissances. Since I graduated, I’ve been employed by the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre in Ottawa, working in the Youth Health Clinic, in the Same Day Clinic, and for the ODSP clinic.

I have preceptored NP students since 2011 for their clinical placements, and I have occasionally taken on Master’s students. I have been teaching in the PHC-NP program since 2019, and am currently francophone course professor lead for the Roles and Responsibilities course. I strongly believe that supporting the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program is important for the future of our profession.

My most important accomplishments are my two children, both teenagers. To keep my sanity I read, walk, knit, and connect with other similarly minded people who help me keep it together!

Sihem Djoudi

About Me

Sihem Djoudi, titulaire d’un diplôme de docteur en médecine (Algérie), j’ai assuré des consultations de médecine générale et des gardes dans le pavillon des urgences médicales et chirurgicales, je suis passionnée par mon métier et tout ce qui touche à la santé public. Je suis chargée de cours à l’université d’Ottawa depuis 2007, j’enseigne entre autre le cours de physiopathologie des problèmes de santé ainsi que l’introduction à la pharmacologie pour les étudiants inscrits au programme interdisciplinaires des sciences de la santé (premier cycle). En 2011, j’ai joint le programme Ontarien de formation des infirmières et infirmiers praticiens en soins de santé primaires et depuis j’enseigne le cours de physiopathologie. Avec mes étudiants j’apprends toujours grâce à leur curiosité et à leur intérêt pour le cours et pour la santé et je leur dis toujours que celui qui choisit le domaine de la santé doit rester un éternel étudiant car il y a toujours du nouveau à apprendre.

About Me

Gina Pittman is a nurse practitioner with a clinical background in emergency and urgent care. She graduated from the Ontario PHCNP Program in 2009. Gina has research experience in nurse practitioner opioid prescribing and safety measure utilization patterns, undergraduate nursing curricula, and utilization of simulation in undergraduate and nurse practitioner education. She is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing, University of Windsor. Gina was the first Ph.D graduate from Nursing at the University of Windsor in October 2021. She is currently involved in research projects in partnership with eCampus related to the use of simulation to educate undergraduate nursing, nurse practitioner, and medicine students regarding opioid prescribing and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). She is also involved in a follow-up study related to her dissertation work exploring inpatient nurse practitioner perspectives regarding the development of setting specific opioid prescribing guidelines. When not busy with work, Gina enjoy spending time with her husband and daughter.

About Me

Hello, I am Sherry Morrell, PHC-NP, P.h.D, MClSc- Wound Healing, the English course lead for the Therapeutic course. I completed an RN Diploma (St. Clair College), BScN, MN & PHC-NP Diploma (Windsor), Clinical Masters-Wound Healing & Ph.D. Science and Rehabilitation (Western). My full-time position is in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Windsor, where I teach in undergraduate and graduate programs. Concurrent with teaching, I worked for 30 years as an RN/NP, primarily in the emergency department. My current clinical practice is at an urgent care clinic. Previously, I have taught Therapeutics, AHAD, and IP in the PHCNP program. I am looking forward to being a co-lead for Therapeutics.

About Me

Erin Ziegler (she/her) is a nurse practitioner with a clinical background in primary health care and is the clinical director of a transgender primary care clinic. She is an Assistant Professor in the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing, Ryerson University. Erin completed her PhD in Nursing from McMaster University. Her thesis was entitled: Exploring the Implementation and Delivery of Primary Health Care Services for Transgender Invidiuals In Ontario. She is a faculty member with the Canadian Centre for Advanced Practice Nursing Research at McMaster University. She has been teaching in the Ontario PHCNP program since 2012. Erin is currently involved in research studies regarding NPs in primary health care and healthcare access for LGBTQ+ individuals .

About Me

Jen has been a nurse practitioner for more than 20 years, working in the US and Canada in a range of specialties within healthcare, including cardiology, primary care, and student wellness. She has been teaching in undergraduate nursing and NP programs since 2005, and is currently working full-time at Queen’s University and practicing in Kingston. She particularly enjoys working with students nearing completion in nursing or nurse practitioner programs, assisting them to pull together everything they’ve learned in order to perform integrated biopsychosocial assessments, process their findings, and use appropriate resources to plan and deliver evidence-based care in complex healthcare situations. Areas of research and interest include use of information technologies in healthcare, and transition into novice nurse/nurse practitioner practice.

About Me

Dr. Chen is the Assistant Dean, Academic Resources and Department Education Coordinator for the School of Nursing (SON) at McMaster University. Dr. Chen completed her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California at Berkeley, her Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University, and her PhD in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health Research Methodology Program, at McMaster University. In Dr. Chen’s previous clinical practice, she has held nurse practitioner/clinical nurse specialist positions in the areas of anesthesia/pain management and in pediatric cardiology. Ruth’s primary teaching responsibilities are with the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs programs at McMaster University. In the Faculty of Health Sciences Graduate Programs at McMaster, Ruth teaches the Leadership and Management in Health Professions Education course in the the Master of Health Sciences Education Program.
